Mt. Gretna: A History in Postcards

Postcards tell stories and allow us to take a trip back in time to visit Mount Gretna as it was in its early years. Based on the postcard collections of Morris Greiner, Karl Gettle, and Gerald Hostetter, this fascinating exploration covers Robert Coleman and his railroad, which led to the creation of Mount Gretna. Additionally,

it highlights the National Guard Soldiers who conducted maneuvers on Soldiers Field, the local amusement parks and hotels, Lake Conewago, the Farmers' Exposition, the Campmeeting, and the Chautauqua Movement.

Sue Hostetter, is a full-time Mount Gretna resident and the Chairman of the Mount Gretna Area Historical Society. A retired teacher and librarian, she first became interested in postcards through her father-in-law, a dedicated collector whose cards are beautifully featured throughout this presentation.
